Why Is The FHSAA Girls Lacrosse Advisory Panel Not Meeting Until After The Next FHSAA Board Meeting?

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
In the debate over the efficacy of the FHSAA ruling in June about mandating the wearing of head gear in the upcoming 2015 Girls lacrosse season a curious thing occurred this week. A meeting scheduled for Thursday this week was postponed. Until October. AFTER the next FHSAA Board of Directors meeting scheduled for September 28th and 29th. Participants were asked to attend the meeting in Gainesville at 10:00am, during the first week of the new school season. Many, if not all, of the Advisory Board members, are teachers, administrators, etc., and could not attend a 10:00am meeting as the school Principals tend to not look favorably on their employees missing time the first week.  The participants on the Board asked for a time change to 3:00pm to allow them to make it to a meeting and the request was turned down. The meeting was then rescheduled until October 6th, AGAIN at 10:00am. Seems like the input of the FHSAA’s own Girl’s Lacrosse Advisory Panel is not wanted by the FHSAA before their September meeting or they would have found an earlier date AND time that was convenient for all parties online blackjack with people. Kind of like political vacations . . . The FHSAA Girls Lacrosse Advisory Panel held their FIRST meeting as an organization on May 13th last year and the following paragraph reviews their discussion points on helmets:
b. Requiring of Helmets Girls Lacrosse The committee discussed this item at length and felt that, if this item is approved, it will have an adverse effect on the safety of the game.  The committee felt that, given current medical research pertaining to concussion prevention, helmets do not prevent the occurrence of concussions.  In addition, the committee felt that if  hard helmets are implemented, the overall aggression of the game will increase and in turn may increase the amount of concussion occurrences in the game.  The committee was unanimous in disapproving the requirement for helmets in the sport of girls lacrosse. They did approve increasing the officials’ control over the safety of the game by approving the implementation of the US Lacrosse carding system.
