WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 15, 2014) – Attacker Kris Coppolino, a solid contributor a Division I UMBC last spring, has transferred to Rollins for the fall semester and will take the field for the Tars in the spring of 2015, head coach Dennis Shortannounced on Friday. Coppolino made two starts last season for the Retrievers with a total of 10 appearances. She finished the year with three goals and a career-best seven draw controls and was named to the American East Conference Honor Roll. As a freshman, the Winter Springs native appeared in 14 games and made eight starts, finishing with five goals and five assists. Before heading to UMBC, Coppolino was a US Lacrosse All-American at local Winter Springs High School, finishing her career with 496 points. She set Winter Springs records in both career points and points in a season and was named Player of the Year in the South Region by Lacrosse Magazine and Seminole County. The three-time First Team All-Conference nominee led her team to the state final as a junior. “Kris is someone I have followed for a long time and we are delighted to have her transfer into Rollins from UMBC,” said Coach Short. “Kris is a very tough, competitive player with excellent technical ability and her experience at UMBC will undoubtedly put her in a position to succeed immediately.” For all the latest Rollins women’s lacrosse news, visit the Tars home on the web at RollinSports.com
