#1 Ranked Spartans Handle Business Against #4 Ranked Lenoir-Rhyne

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No.1 ranked University of Tampa Spartans men’s lacrosse team defeats No.4 ranked Lenoir Rhyne University to remain undefeated.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST QUARTER

The Spartans would get off to a slow start to start the first quarter, as Lenoir-Rhyne struck first blood. It would only take a minute for Tampa to respond as Max Manniello found Harry Kilkowski to make it level. The Spartans would have things to settle as they went down two in the first, after finding a goal late in the quarter from Kilkowski. Tampa found themselves down two after the first.

SECOND QUARTER

The second quarter was when the Spartans found their groove, as Luke McAnaney linked up with Owen Miller early in the second to give the momentum to Tampa. Gavin Bomstad would then score to bring the Spartans back level with the Bears. Tampa found themselves trailing once again before a goal from Daniel Fitzpatrick and Nick Papa would give the Spartans their first lead of the game. Robert Pilla sent the Spartans into the half up two with all the momentum with them.

THIRD QUARTER

The second half started off slow for both teams, Lenoir-Rhyne would strike first as 11 minutes remained in the quarter. The Bears fought back to make it level at 7, not long later the Spartans finally found themselves with three consecutive goals, as Fitzpatrick found himself involved in all three goals in the quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

The Spartans continued putting the pressure on Lenoir-Rhyne as they started off the final quarter with a goal. Lenoir-Rhyne would find a sliver of hope as they would put two goals on the board. It would not be enough however, as Tampa would secure two more in the final two minutes of the game.
