#1 Women’s Lacrosse Crushes Warner on Senior Day, 19-5

With seven goals in the opening five minutes of the game, No. 1 Keiser women’s lacrosse sent their seniors out with a bang as they cruised to a win over Warner, 19-5. Before the game, the Seahawks honored their six seniors (Leanza GibaudRebecca GibsonTalia MyersChloe FoleyMadison Andrews, and Leah Siter) for all of their contributions and accomplishments with the program.

First Quarter
Keiser 11, Warner 0

  • Just 24 seconds into the game, MacKenzie Gibaud got the scoring started for Keiser making her way all the way around the back of the goal to the front before beating the keeper.
  • Abbey Cannon scored 10 seconds later after finding a hole in the defense to make it 2-0 for KU.
  • The first senior goal came with 13:45 remaining in the first as Chloe Foley scored back-to-back goals.
  • Leanza Gibaud and Talia Myers continued the streak of goals for seniors as Keiser jumped out to a six-goal lead.
  • With just over 10 minutes left in the first, Emily fired her first shot into the back of the net to continue the run.
  • Following L. Gibaud’s second goal of the contest, Milena Isturiz and Carly Chretien each added a tally for the Seahawks to make it 10-0 with 3:57 to play in the first.
  • With 33 seconds left in the first, L. Gibaud secured her first career hat trick to give Keiser the 11-0 lead going into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 12, Warner 2

  • After a quiet start to the second quarter, Hannah Glaser tallied her 36th goal of the season for Warner to put the Royals on the board with 5:45 left in the half.
  • Just over a minute later, Isturiz forced a turnover in the midfield and carried it the rest of the way to score her second of the day and increase the Keiser lead to 12-1.
  • The Royals would take advantage of a free position attempt with 1:37 as Margaret Wroe would get a stick on it but it would trickle into the net.
Third Quarter

Keiser 17, Warner 5

  • Keiser kicked off the scoring with Leah Siter scoring her first career goal to put the Seahawks up 13-2.
  • Glaser would fight back for Warner with back-to-back scores to cut the Keiser lead to 13-4 with 9:47 left in the third.
  • Hayley Frew would have the response with back-to-back goals of her own to make it 15-4 with 6:08 on the clock.
  • Chretien would add her second goal of the contest with 4:44 to play to continue the Keiser run.
  • Following a goal from Warner’s Snyder, Emily McCall ended the third with a low roller that gave the Seahawks a 17-5 lead after three quarters.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 19, Warner 6

  • Keiser would slow down their attack in the fourth before Cannon found Myers over the middle who fired it into the back of the net.
  • With just over four minutes to play, Makena Myers forced a turnover, scooped up the ball, and ran straight to the goal where she fired in her first career goal.
  • The Royals would score the final goal of the game with under 30 seconds to play but the clock would run out with Keiser taking home the 19-6 victory.

KU Highlights

  • 9/3: T. Myers collected nine draw controls and three groundballs in the afternoon. She now has 100 career groundballs, the fourth Seahawk to reach the mark.
  • 8: Keiser was a perfect 8-of-8 in clearance attempts on the day.
  • 4: Another strong defensive day for Rebecca Gibson as she tallied four more caused turnovers to lead the way.
  • 4/3: Cannon led the team in points on the day with four, three coming on assists.
  • 4/1: Wroe earned her fourth win in net, making one save in the contest.
  • 3: L. Gibaud tallied her first career hat trick on Saturday, leading the team with three goals.
  • 2: Six different Seahawks recorded two goals as McCall, Isturiz, Frew, Chretien, T. Myers, and Foley all hit the mark.
  • 1: M. Myers and Siter each tallied their first career goals on the day.
