No. 9 Flagler Uses Balanced Scoring Attack to Beat Westminster

ST AUGUSTINE. – No. 9 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College had 10 different players score goals in a 17-7 romp over Westminster University of Salt Lake City, Utah in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.

Flagler won its sixth game in a row and improved to 8-1 on the season. Westminster dropped to 0-2. Up next for the Saints is a road game against Newberry College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Saints scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back. Claudia TanksleySydney Onega, and Tristan Usher provided the early spark.

After a Griffins goal early in the second quarter cut the Saints lead to 4-2, Flagler would go on to score the next six goals and take a 10-2 lead into the half. Usher had a pair of goals in that run.

Carley Tepel led the Saints with four goals. Usher added three goals and two assists while Onega finished with a pair of goals and three assists. Madison Daziel scored two goals and added an assist. Molly Sloan had a game-high four ground balls while Greta McGinnis had four draw controls. Lauren Ribadeneira split time with Isabella Baringer in goal. Ribadeneira made four saves while Baringer had five.

Hannah Kelleher, Madi Rogers, and Annabelle Kugler each scored two goals for Westminster. Maddie Kelleher had a pair of assists. Gabriella Cheminant tallied 13 saves.
