Jarka & Johnson combine for 13 points in win over Molloy

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The tandem of juniors Mallory Jarka and Kristyn Johnson combined to score 13 points as Lynn University pushed its winning streak to four games following an 18-12 defeat of Molloy, Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 5-1 overall and are outscoring their opponents by 8.25 goals per game during the current four-game winning streak.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn scored 18 goals on 27 shots, finished 16-of-20 on clear attempts and collected 19 draw controls
– Defensively, the Fighting Knights caused 13 turnovers and scooped up 15 ground balls
– The Lions scored the game’s first goal before Lynn answered with six-straight goals to take control
– Sophomore Elizabeth Clagett scored the first goal at 10:52 and classmate Rebecca Clark ended the run with a goal with 3:33 left in the first quarter as the hosts led 6-2 after the first 15 minutes
– Johnson came alive in the second quarter with three of Lynn’s four goals to push the lead to 10-5 at halftime
– Graduate Elizabeth Tamasitis opened the second half scoring with her fifth goal of the season
– Johnson and Jarka each tacked on a goal in the third, while Clark and freshman Angelia Huggins scored to close the third for a 15-8 cushion
– Molloy scored four goals in the fourth to narrow their deficit to 16-12 with 3:35 to play
– Johnson scored her sixth goal of the afternoon with 2:44 left in the game and Clagett scored the final tally with 2:00 left to set the final at 18-12
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Lynn’s 18 goals are the third highest total this season, while the 27 shots are the lowest single game total this spring
– Lynn’s shot percentage (66.7%) is the highest this season
– Jarka scored twice with five assists
– Johnson found the net six times
– Clark scored three goals, with one assist and two draw controls
– Clagett finished with two goals, one assist and four draw controls
– Huggins and Tamasitis each closed with one goal and two assists
– Sophomore Isabella Connelly led the Fighting Knights with six draw controls
– Sophomore Katelyn Andrews played all 60 minutes in net and made four saves for the win
