ATS: Lakeland’s Eli Peck, Unit Lead Lacrosse Team to Sizzling Start

Sometimes unfortunate circumstances can lead to fortunate opportunities. In the case of Lakeland lacrosse starting goalie Eli Peck, his opportunity put Lakeland’s program in the right direction.

Last year (2022) in a playoff game vs. Bartow, first-team all-county goalie Tommy Hamrick ― then a senior with a school-record 198 saves and the save leader in all of Polk County in 2022 ― fractured his left collarbone as he was running the ball to the offense down the field.

Enter Peck with virtually no experience at the goalie position. While Lakeland ended up losing 9-6 in the playoffs, this was a game that convinced Lakeland head coach Zac Brownlee that the program would be in good hands since Hamrick was slated to graduate last year.
