“We wanted two things: We wanted to get fresh legs on the field and we weren’t trying to set up anything for one specific guy,” he said. “We were trying to set up a lot of motion and an open shot. We had six guys on the field at that moment where anyone could score.”
The one shot Riverview took was smothered by Cougars goalie Jackson Lucarelli, who preserved Barron Collier’s 9-8 victory over the Rams in a second-round play-in game Tuesday night at the Ram Bowl.
Barron Collier (19-1) moves on to the third-round play-in game Friday night at Benjamin, which beat Merritt Island, 11-4. Meanwhile, the Rams (14-6) close their second varsity lacrosse season with an eye toward the future.
“We’ve come a long way as a team,” deLisser said. “There’s a lot of young guys. They’re just getting better all the time. They’re seeing more. The more you play, the more experience you get, the more your vision opens up. And you see stuff.”
