Ave Maria Women’s Lacrosse Earns First National Tournament Bid!

via press release – photo via AM web site   Full Release and Bracket KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Ave Maria women’s lacrosse team earned its first-ever bid to the National Tournament on Sunday afternoon when the NAIA released the eight-team bracket. The event will take place at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville, S.C., on May 4-6. Ave Maria, who finished the season tied for sixth in the latest poll, received the fourth at-large bid and will take on WHAC Conference Champion and two-seed Davenport in round one. Their game will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. SCAD is the top-seed for the tournament and will take on eight-seed Ottawa (Kan.). Indiana Tech and Georgetown will play in the 4-/5-seed matchup and Lawrence Tech and Tennessee Wesleyan will round out the final game of the opening round in the 3-/6-seed game. Ave Maria has already played four of the seven other teams that are in the tournament field. AMU and Davenport played earlier this season, AMU’s second game of the year, in Ave Maria with the Panthers coming out on top 22-14. The NAIA Network – the association’s official video streaming home – will broadcast all games at the 2017 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse National Invitational. The video platform, powered by Stretch Internet, allows users access to live video, statistics, and social interaction on a number of devices, including mobile. Single day passes can be purchased for $4.95, while an all-tournament package is available for $9.95.
