MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 7, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women’s Lacrosse team earned their first victory of the season on Thursday afternoon against St. Andrews University (NC). Led by Kaitlyn Chmelir and Jorja Schooler, the Bobcats defeated the Knights 22-1 on their home turf.

From the onset, St. Thomas demonstrated their offensive firepower, with Kaitlyn Chmelir spearheading the assault. Chmelir wasted no time, scoring two goals within the first minute of the game. Chmelir hit a career milestone with her first goal, reaching 50 career goals in just two seasons alone. Chmelir is the first player to reach this milestone in program history.

Chmelir continued her scoring spree, totaling four goals for the game and one assist. Jorja Schooler followed suit, notching four goals and an assist of her own against the Knights. Schooler and Paige Peters displayed remarkable chemistry, setting each other up for scoring opportunities with pinpoint passes and intelligent positioning. Peters, along with E’Mya Miller and Jenna Lytch, also contributed to St. Thomas’ tally, adding two goals apiece.

Despite their best efforts, St. Andrews struggled to gain a foothold in the game. With Emily Dawson standing tall in goal, St. Thomas limited the Knights to just one goal throughout the entire game. The match concluded with a comprehensive 22-1 victory for St. Thomas, 13 Bobcats with at least one goal to their name.

Up next, the Bobcats will host #10 Aquinas on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at AutoNation Field.
