HOW IT HAPPENED
Air Force (9-5, 6-2 ASUN) used a seven-goal surge from 2:36 in the second quarter through the third quarter to pull away enough from Jacksonville (11-3, 6-2 ASUN) and claim the win. Luke Vrsansky started the scoring for the Falcons late in the first half, and if it weren’t for an Ethan Lamond goal at the midway point of the third quarter, Air Force would’ve capped a 7-0 run.

The Dolphins battled back in the fourth quarter with two goals each from Lamond and Brandon Galloway to cut the deficit down to three, but time was the enemy of Jacksonville, and the comeback fell short.

“We were out-toghed for 60 minutes today,” said head coach John Galloway. “And we will have to answer the bell both physically and emotionally if we want to play for something more this season. A response like that falls on the coach, and I have to be better for our guys the rest of this season to make sure we reach our potential. I don’t believe today is a reflection of who we are, and I can only hope everyone in our locker room is chomping at the bit to prove that against Bellarmine.”

Offensively, Galloway and LaMond led the Dolphins. Galloway picked up his third hat-trick of the season and tallied a pair of assists. While LaMond had a season high in goals with three scored. For LaMond, it’s his first hat trick since April of last season.

Jacksonville scooped up 35 ground balls to Air Force’s 26, with Nathan Kapp picking up nine. Tucker Garrity and Zack Deaken scooped up four apiece. Luke Millican and Jason Yoquinto both recorded minutes in the cage. Millican allowed 12 goals and made eight saves, while Yoquinto stopped four shots and surrendered three goals.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
The Dolphins won the face-off battle against Air Force 20-8.
Jackson Intrieri is currently on a team-best 31 game point streak.
