Stetson Honors Seniors, Drop Final Home Game to Coastal

DeLand, Fla. – Stetson (8-8, 1-5) faced Coastal Carolina (10-6, 3-3) for senior day on Saturday afternoon and fell 11-20.

Prior to the 12:00 start, the Hatters honored five seniors for their contributions to the program. Seniors included Jessica DugganCaroline McLaughlinMolly KearneyAine Williams and Camden Frissora as they will be playing their final home regular season game.

In the first quarter, Molly Kearney got the scoring started at the 13:09 mark. Jordyn Humphrey would follow it up with her first before Coastal would get on the board at the 7:18 mark making the score 2-1 in favor of the Hatters. Kaitlin Pani would net two in a row for the Hatters to push the lead to 3 before the Chanticleers would score their second at the 2:20 mark. Jordyn Humphrey would get her second of the game prior to the end of the quarter as the Hatters found themselves in the lead 5-2.

The Chants would open up the scoring in the second quarter at the 12:07 mark. Humphrey would get a Hattrick, scoring at the 8:37 mark. Coastal would get another goal, that would be followed up by the senior Aine Williams netting her first of the game at the 5:24 mark to make the score 7-4 Hatters. Pani would get her hattrick by scoring at the 3:48 mark and the Chants would respond with one of their own as the score heading into halftime was 8-5 Stetson.

The Chanticleers would come out strong on the offensive scoring three unanswered goals before Sam King would net a goal for the Hatters at the 9:03 mark. King’s goal would be the only one in the quarter for the Hatters as the Chants would net 8 despite Stetson turning over Coastal five times and getting 4 groundballs. Heading into the fourth quarter the Chanticleers would be leading the Hatters 13-9.

The fourth quarter started off with another goal by Pani at the 14:30 mark. The Hatters would give up 5 unanswered goals next before Humphrey would net a goal for the Hatters at the 4:22 mark, the overall score being 18-11 in favor of the Chants. Humphrey’s goal would be the final one on the afternoon for the Hatters, Coastal would score two more making the final score 20-11 over Stetson.

Saturday concludes the regular season home games for the Hatters as they will head to Jacksonville on Friday the 28th to face off with the Dolphins at 4:00 p.m.
