via Stetson press release   Ten different players scored goals for No. 16/18 Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish handed Stetson a 21-7 defeat, Sunday at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand. For the second straight game Stetson (0-2) fell into an early hole as Notre Dame (1-1) raced out to an early 9-1 lead. But as in last week’s game with Arizona State the Hatters battled back. Down eight, the Hatters scored three of the next five goals as Quinn RoeHallie Merz and Taylor Patrizi each found the back of the net. But even that flurry only drew the Hatters to within 12-4 at halftime. Stetson opened the second half with a quick goal by Erin Cornell, but Notre Dame answered with three straight goals of its own to make it a 15-5 affair. Karli Maguire and Patrizi scored back-to-back goals to get the Hatters within 15-7 but ND closed the game by scoring the last six goals. Notre Dame owned a huge advantage on the draw (20-8) and committed just seven turnovers. Stetson goalie Liza Diamond made 12 saves while facing 42 shots. The Hatters return to action when they visit Marquette, Sunday, Feb. 25.
