Bishop Moore Holds Off Ponte Vedra to Reach Boys Lacrosse State Final

Bishop Moore held off a furious but mostly futile last-minute Ponte Vedra rally Friday evening to advance to the boys state lacrosse final.
The Hornets won 8-6.
The Bishop Moore boys (18-2) are trying to bring another lacrosse state title back to Orlando after their girls prevailed last year.
In the FHSAA championship match at 8 p.m. Saturday, the Hornets will take on Jupiter (20-2), which ousted four-time state champion Boca Raton St. Andrew’s (17-3).
The Hornets made the most of the first state semifinal berth in program history.
Though they fell behind quickly 2-0 in the first quarter, which coach Reed Reynolds attributed to early game jitters, they stormed back with four unanswered goals in the last 6:44 of the first quarter to take a 4-2 lead.
Junior Dillon Worrell netted the first of those scores, then junior Jake Kiefer sandwiched a pair of goals around one by sophomore Brooks Rask.
