For a moment, Gulf Breeze’s undefeated season and district title hopes wobbled in the wind at Dolphin Stadium on Friday night.
Leading 5-2 at halftime, the Dolphins surrendered two early goals to rival Pensacola Catholic in the third quarter before losing composure and falling three men down via penalties.
But senior captain Noah Haas swooped in at the right time, scoring three consecutive goals – the last behind his back – to right the ship and lift Gulf Breeze to the 12-4 win and the District 1 championship.
“As a captain, I feel like it’s my duty if our morale is down to get the morale back up,” Haas said. “Just take care of the competition.”
“Me and my dad have always practiced that (behind the back shot) in the backyard … I’ve been practicing it forever. When it comes in the game, it just looks sick.”
