Breaking: Florida Launch Announce 23-Man Roster

via press release by the Launch
Author’s Note:  For Launch followers the list is not the same as the team that finished the season.  Will Gural, the former Brown FOGO picked 1st overall in last year’s Supplemental Draft, was not protected due to his likelihood of taking the year off next year due to work considerations.  All-around middie Tim Edwards, who impressed all season, has committed to the NLL’s Buffalo Bandits and will miss a good chunk of the season next year.  PT Ricci, who was an original member of the team, was also left unprotected as was Benny Pugh, the goalie from Richmond who backed up Austin Kaut last season.  And of course Chazz Woodson retired. As far as other changes are concerned, as mentioned below, Gural’s slot was filled by the acquisition of Kevin Reisman, the FOGO on Ohio who was drafted last year from Division 2 power Limestone.  Reisman was acquired for a 4th round pick in the Supplemental Draft.  Last year’s draft pick Michael Tagliaferri of North Carolina was also protected.  The Launch own the 7th pick in the 1st round of the Supplemental Draft and will likely look towards continuing to build up the midfield as well as filling out the goalie ranks.  Pugh could certainly be in the mix to come back. The Supplemental Draft should not be viewed as a pure waiver wire, last year the Launch picked Gural, Marty Bowes, Sean Meagher, Mike Unterstein and Duncan Clancy, all of which contributed significantly to the team’s success last season.  The setting of the 23-man rosters today pretty much defines the available pool of talent available on December 8th.
The Florida Launch roster has been reduced to 23 players ahead of the Supplemental Draft that will take place on Friday, Dec. 8. The latest roster, listed below, features some new Launch players but also marks the return of several team veterans. All but three players – Kevin Reisman, Brian von Bargen, and Michael Tagliaferri – appeared in a game for the Launch in 2017. Reisman was acquired last Friday via trade with the Ohio Machine in exchange for a fourth round pick in the upcoming supplemental rounds. Chazz Woodson, a twelve-year MLL veteran, is a notable name not on the 23-man roster as he announced his intention to retire last month. The Supplemental Draft will give the Launch a chance to continue reworking the roster during the offseason.
