Delray Lacrosse & Leadership Enjoys Launch Game Outing!

On May 19th, Delray Lacrosse & Leadership played a scrimmage against Manatee Wildcats at FAU Stadium before the Florida Launch hosted the New York Lizards. The kids were treated to a pizza dinner by the Launch after the scrimmage also participated in the high-five line to welcome the professional players on to the field before the game.     Comprised of boys from Pine Grove elementary school, Delray Lacrosse and Leadership is moving toward the end of its’ second full season of on-field games & tournaments. They played several scrimmages this spring against various teams in the town of Delray youth recreation lacrosse league. They have played one local travel tournaments last weekend and finish the season with its’ final tournament next weekend.     Head coach Hunter Barnett said “the development of our kids both on & off the field has been amazing. We as coaches see the improvement day to day, week to week. However, when we test ourselves against teams that have been playing lacrosse for several years, it’s eye-opening for us to see where we are and how far we’ve come.” The program has expanded to Village Academy, also in Delray, where it hopes to additionally expose middle school kids to the game.     Delray Lacrosse and Leadership is a non-profit, education-based development & mentoring program for at-risk youth in Delray Beach.
