JU Men: Beville Selected To Play In USILA North-South All-Star Game

via JU press release   For the first time since 2011 – and just the third time in program history – a member of Jacksonville University’s men’s lacrosse team will represent the Dolphins at the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s 77th Annual North/South Senior All-Star Games, as midfielder Ryan Beville was selected to the Division I/II South Team. Held this Friday, May 25 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, the Division III game is set for 5:30 p.m. EST, with the Division I/II contest to follow at 7:30 p.m. EST. Admission is free. One of the most tenacious short-stick midfielders in the Southern Conference and, arguably Division I, Beville posted three points and accumulated season highs in ground balls (49) and caused turnovers (14) in 2018 en route to helping the Dolphins to their first-ever appearance in the Southern Conference Tournament Championship game. A native of Fogelsville, Pa., Beville was one of three Dolphins selected in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft, going to the Florida Launch in the sixth round as the 52nd overall selection. Beville joins former Dolphins Brad Hester (2010) and Bobby Stockton (2011) as the only three Dolphins selected to play in the USILA Divison I/II North-South All-Star Game. One of the most storied traditions in college lacrosse, the USILA North-South Senior All-Star game kicks off a lacrosse-filled Memorial Day weekend in New England, as the 2018 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Semifinals and Championships are held just 25 miles north of Providence at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Division I/II South team will be coaches by Drew McMinn of Robert Morris, while the North team will be coaches by Bill Dunn of NYIT.
