Bishop Moore is clearly the big program in this district, having played their way to the FHSAA title game last year and finishing tied for #2 in the Final Media Poll. This year looks to be potentially the same, albeit having to overcome some key losses to both graduation and a very significant transfer to area rival LHP of FOGO Hudson Bohn. He will not easily be replaced.

The First Academy and Windermere Prep made significant strides last year, with TFA receiving consideration for the Top 25 final poll. But there’s still a large gap to fill before they are ready to win the District.
Bishop Moore 19-3, lost to Jupiter in the FHSAA Title Game
Head Coach Reed Reynolds has a tough act to follow but here’s his insight on the upcoming season:
What are your expectations this season for the team?
Win Districts. Playoff Success.
Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?
On Attack, Jake Kiefer (Utah), Team Captain and All-American returns with RJ Sanfilippo and Brooks Rask. Midfielder leaders will be Brett Heneghan (Wingate), Dillon Worrell, Jack McKeever, Justin Mulligan, and Jack Greeno at the Face-off X (68% last year). Offense returns 86% of points from last season.
On defense, Jackson Canfield (Vermont), Team Captain, returns with Justin Pridgen and Ben Calvert as 2 great LSMs.
What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year?
Averey Douglas and Davison Oser are strong in goal and a group of defenders will compete for starting roles.
What are the games you are really looking forward to this season?
Lake Mary, Oxbridge, Winter Park, Benjamin, Lovett (GA), DeMatha (MD), PV, LHP, Cardinal Mooney
The First Academy 12-4, lost in the district final
Head Coach David Oliver looks for his program to hopefully repeat last year’s strong record:
What are your expectations this season for the team?
The team is coming off a strong season 12-4 in 2018. Defense intact with strong Goal Tending, losing some offensive fire power, but have some strong returners to fill in the gaps. All American Brennen Fountain graduated. A mix of Vets and new varsity players.
Team is always very disciplined and always plays solid lacrosse. Look to be competitive in district again and hopefully challenge for the district title. Shooting for 10 plus wins.
This is Coach Oliver’s 10th season with TFA and holds a 110-48 W/L record.
Side Note. Our team was #3 on the state academic GPA list with a 3.67 team GPA. Has won the State Academic Team title 2/10 years
Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?
Ryan Oliver (Jr) Goalie. All District 1st Team. Returning for 3rd year as starter. Will be very strong this season. Currently being recruited by numerous teams. 6.5 GAA / 61% Save
Tanner Pohl (Sr) Attack. All District 2nd Team. Signed with Palm Beach Atlantic U. Scored 64 points last year. 30G / 34 A Looks to be a top offensive player this season.
David Prinsell (Sr) Midfield Undecided at this point, but many schools interested. David is a fierce competitor and will be hard to stop offensively. Strong on GBs and clearing
Josh Thomson (So) LSM. As a Soph. Josh will be one of the top LSM players in central Florida. Last season as a freshman he led our team in Ground Balls with 95 GB. He is one of the defensive players to watch in the next 2 years. D1 prospect
What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year?
Owen Pifer (Sr) Face Off/ Midfield. We look to Owen to emerge as a top face off man in the area this year. In his first year playing last year, Owen had a 55% win in a district with very strong Face off specialists. We look for a 65% plus average this year.
Luther Tupponce (So) Midfield. Luther played Varsity as a freshman but had limited points. He is bigger, faster, stronger this season and looks to be an impact player on the offensive end this year.
Cole Toenges (Jr) Defense. Cole was a starter last year, but looks to be one of our top defensive players. He is very long and tenacious. Much improved from last season. Currently receiving college interest.
Jordan Pierre (Sr) Defense. Athlete. Hard to beat.
What are the games you are really looking forward to this season?
TFA vs. Olympia (Opener)
TFA vs. Boone (Wounded Warrior Game)
TFA vs. West Orange (Usually tough)
