District 19 – Gulf Coast Continues to Dominate, Immokalee Still Chases
Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in Featured Posts, Florida Lacrosse News, High School, Tampa/Treasure Coast Boys.
District 19 has been the personal possession of Gulf Coast ever since I remember. Last year was a good season on paper, looking at the record, but there wasn’t a lot of ‘meat on the bone’ when it came to the toughness of the schedule and that kept them from being ranked in the Final poll, even with the 19-4 record. Their one goal first round FHSAA win over Barron Collier, another team that struggled last season, was followed up by a 17-4 loss to Cardinal Mooney.
There’s not a lot I know about the team going into this year and Head Coach Brett Queener did not provide the questionnaire yet, but I have to go with them continuing to win this district until otherwise proven. Immokalee, one of the great stories in Florida the past few years under Head Coach Scott Rickard, has managed to put themselves into the second slot in this 4-team district. Golden Gate and Palmetto Ridge are also here but the goal differentials need major improvement.
