via FSC press release   Claude would go on to score nine of Florida Southern’s goals to etch his name in the school record Books. Colin Bayer ended the game with four goals, while Kevin Dyer, Dalton Simpson, and Carson Wallace each tallied a goal. HOW IT HAPPENED • For the second straight game, Florida Southern jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Just a minute and twenty-two seconds into the game, Dyer found the back of the net for his 20th goal of the season. In what would turn into one of the most impressive performances in program history, Claude would score the next two goals before UAH was able to get on the board at the 7:10 mark of the first quarter. However, Claude would score three more times in the first period to tally five first-quarter goals and give the Mocs an 8-1 lead after the first. • The Florida Southern offense continued to have a solid performance by scoring five times in the second quarter, while the Moccasin defense held the Chargers scoreless in the second. Bayer scored three times in the second, while Claude closed out the half with a pair of goals to give him seven in the first half alone. • Wallace opened the second half scoring on a feed from Liam Winwood just two minutes and twenty-eight seconds into the third quarter. The Chargers would answer with three unassisted goals of their own in a two-minute span to cut the deficit to 14-4, but Claude followed up with his final two goals of the game to make it 16-4 with 3:52 to go in the third. UAH scored at the end of the third period to make it 16-5 and would score four more times in the fourth quarter while holding FSC scoreless to make the final 16-9. INSIDE THE NUMBERS • Wednesday’s win kept the Mocs undefeated all-time against the Chargers (2-0). Last year, in the first meeting between the two programs, the Moccasins defeated UAH at Bryant Field by a 21-10 final. • Claude’s nine goals are the second-highest single-game total in school history, bested only by Dane Sorensen’s 10-goal performance in an 18-7 win over Saint Leo on April 19, 2014. The nine goals are tied for the second-most at any level of NCAA men’s lacrosse this year. No one at the Division I level has scored more than eight in a single game, while five players have done so at the Division III level. Three players have scored nine goals in a game in the Division II ranks, including Claude, while Lake Erie’s Edmond Ranaud’s 10-goal performance against Alderson Broaddus on March 17 is the most for any NCAA men’s lacrosse athlete this year. • Florida Southern’s 16 goals marked the sixth time this season that the Moccasins have scored at least 10 goals. The Mocs have won all six games in which they have hit double-digits in goals. The Moccasins forced 23 turnovers by the Chargers, outshot UAH 51-26, and won 18-of-29 faceoffs. • Kevin Horwitz finished with 10 or more faceoff wins for the seventh time this season, while Austen Lison led the Mocs with five ground balls and Mike Greco picked up his sixth win in goal this season while making seven total saves. UP NEXT • Florida Southern will hit the road for a pair of SSC contests at Lynn (March 31) and Tampa (April 4). The Mocs will return home for three-straight conference matchups to close out the home portion of their schedule.
