Congratulations to Wyatt for his college commitment and good luck in the future . . . except for that one game each year as any Cornell or Syracuse commit knows by now!

Why did you choose this college?

This was a long and tough process for me, but I couldn’t be happier with where I ended up. My goal during the whole recruiting process was to find a school that I loved that combined great academics with great lacrosse and Cornell fit all of those categories. I talked to Coach Stevens on the phone almost every week for 2 months leading up to my commitment and it was great to be able to build a relationship with both Coach Buczek and Coach Stevens.

What are your first memories of the sport?

My first memories of the sport are playing on the U11 C team for the South Tampa Sticks. My dad was the coach and I played attack. I don’t think we won a game the entire season, but it was a great experience and made me fall in love with the sport.

What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future?

The most surprising part of the process to me was how quickly things can change. I would say the most important advice would be staying patient and continuing to work hard and improve. It’s important to make sure that you’re accepting an offer because it is where you want to go, not because it is the first offer you get.

Who would you like to thank for helping you get here?

I would like to thank all of my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for helping me get here. It was great to be able to grow up and play for my local club team, the Tarpons, and I would like to thank Coach Tony, Coach Longo, Coach Mayer, Coach Butcher, and my dad for making those years so fun and helping me to get better. I would also like to thank Coach Francis at Plant for his help during the recruiting process. I can’t wait to compete for a state championship next year! Lastly, I would like to thank all the coaches at Sweetlax. Without Coach Dugan and Coach Martin, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to be seen by great colleges like Cornell and I would like to thank them for all their help during the recruiting process.
