MCLA: FAU Lacrosse Closes Out the Weekend with Two Conference Wins at Home

Over the weekend, Florida Atlantic secured big wins against conference rivals College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina. The story of the weekend was ground balls. On Friday night against Charleston, the Owls picked up 30 groundballs. FAU also came out firing. Leading the midfield was freshman Ricky Melvin, who put up 5 goals and 2 assists. Att. Matt Rapaglia and Reagan Griffith each had three goals. To finish the second quarter, the Owls finished on 5 of 13 shots, and put up a majority of their goals before the half. The final score was FAU 13 – College of Charleston 9. Saturday, against Coastal Carolina, the Owls dug out another 31 groundballs (61 total). Goalie Colby Blackburn grabbed 17 saves, while Sr. Jason Conner came up another 12. On the weekend, the Owls only allowed 16 goals, while putting up 27 of their own. Next week, for the Easter holiday, FAU travels to Georgia for conference games against Columbus State, and Georgia Southern.
