D-I Poll: Chapman Expands Lead

ATLANTA – Chapman grabbed three more first place votes this week to tighten its grip on the No. 1 ranking in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll for the period ending April 2. The Panthers (9-0) snatched three of No. 2 Utah’s first place votes, giving them 20 total for a comfy, 21-point lead over the Utes (8-0). Utah still has six first place votes. No. 3 Colorado (9-1) remained in the same spot from Week 6 after a pair of ranked wins at home. South Carolina (10-0) leapfrogged Michigan State (9-1) to take the No. 4 position while the Spartans dipped to No. 5. Oregon (3-4) left the poll this week to make room for No. 25 Florida as the Gators make their first appearance of the season after knocking on the door for several weeks. D-II Poll: Showdown Looming

ATLANTA – North Dakota State remains the No. 1 team in Under Armour MCLA Division II Weekly Coaches Poll with St. Thomas moving into the No. 2 spot this period. The Bison (7-0) and Tommies (6-1) will meet in a top-ranked showdown on Sunday in St. Paul at 11:30 a.m. NDSU grabbed 19 of the 22 first-place votes this week while St. Thomas received none. Minn.-Duluth (8-3), which suffered a loss to St. John’s (6-1) on Friday evening, dropped into the No. 3 chair, but still managed to retain three first-place votes. Despite Friday’s triumph over the Bulldogs, the Johnnies remain a spot behind Duluth at No.4. Grand Valley State (3-2) and Dayton (4-2) round out the top six and will meet this weekend in another premium Top 10 matchup. There were no new additions or subtractions to the poll this period.
