via press release   ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity league in the sport, is pleased to open the nomination process for its inaugural Hall of Fame class that will be inducted in 2019. The 2019 class will be the first inductees into the newly created Hall of Fame and, as part of the process, the MCLA is soliciting nominations for this first class. “With over 20 years of championships, it’s clear to everyone that the MCLA is here for the long haul,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “Creating a Hall of Fame and populating it with some of the great players, coaches and administrators who have made us who we are is a natural progression in our growth.” Nominations are open to former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, teams or other persons with the stipulation that they must be five years removed from their matriculating class or five years removed from the end of their involvement with the MCLA. The Hall of Fame by-laws allow for the waiving of this rule in special circumstances. Nominations, which should include as much information about the candidate as possible, can be sent to info@mcla.us. The window for accepting nominations for the 2019 class closes on December 1, although nominations will be accepted for future classes on a rolling basis. Qualified nominations will remain in the selection pool in perpetuity, with a five-man selection committee determining the inductees. The members of the selection committee for the first five-year cycle are Doug Carl, Doug Horn, John Paul, Tony Scazzero and Alex Smith. A candidate must receive approval from four of the five committee members for selection and there can be no more than five inductees in one class.
