via Florida Launch press release   Thursday night, the Launch fell to the now 1-3 Boston Cannons, 15-9. After a fast start for Florida, who led by two goals within the first ten minutes of play, the Cannons went off for five unanswered goals in the second half and to start the third quarter. With sloppy play on both sides, Coach Mariano said, “We didn’t play our game, with five or six failed clears that’s more then we’ve had all year so we didn’t do our job.” Nick Mariano got on the board first for the Launch, followed by Kieran McArdle and Steven Brooks. With his goal at the end of the first quarter, veteran MLL star Steven Brooks moved to second place all-time in franchise history with 59 goals scored. Mariano and McArdle both ended the night with two goals each. Coming out of halftime, the Cannons led 9-4, and added another quick strike to send the lead to six goals. Sergio Salcido got on the board to end the bleeding with ten minutes left in the third quarter to cut the deficit to five. Although a quiet night for the offense, Dylan Molloy would not be held scoreless. To end the third quarter, Molloy found the back of the net twice to bring the score to 7-11 and the Launch within four goals. Molloy said, the attack unit was, “slow moving the ball, we have to be even faster together next time.” To start the last 15 minutes of play it seemed the Launch could make a run with a score from Mariano, however the Cannons attack put in three goals including a two-pointer form Max Seibald, which proved too steep a mountain for the Launch to climb. Coach believes the “turnovers and not enough possessions” on the offensive side was a key factor in the loss. “We did not do a good job of playing the little things for 60 minutes.” The Launch will return to action next Saturday at home against the New York Lizards. Looking towards the game, Coach is looking to correct some areas starting with groundballs and executing on the offensive end.
