PBA Women: Sailfish Let Early Lead Slip Against Emmanuel

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After getting off to a hot start the Palm Beach Atlantic women’s lacrosse team suffered a disappointing loss on Friday night, falling to Emmanuel College 9-6.

The Sailfish scored the first three goals in the game and led 3-2 at halftime but Emmanuel scored seven in the second half including in the final three goals to take the win.

PBA got three goals from Dom Barber and two from Grace BartlinskiJulia del Carmen also scored in the game. The ‘Fish trailed 6-4 midway through the second half before Barber scored her 19th and 20th goals of the season to tie the game at 6-6. The goals came just 26 seconds apart.

Two minutes later Emmanuel retook the lead on Tara Larson’s fourth goal of the night. The Lions added two more in the final minutes to secure the win.

PBA took 27 shots in the game and put 18 on target. Alyssa Yates led the ‘Fish with six ground balls as the team scooped up 23 on the night. Sarah Vernarelli made nine stops between the pipes.

The Sailfish will have an extended break before their next game on Monday, March 26 at home against Erskine.
