  via Inside Lacrosse   Excerpt: The hotel does not serve meat for breakfast, but the choices here are plentiful and spectacular. It’s different to see vegetables and fish offered in the morning. Our buffet is a smorgasbord and offered the opportunity to chat over coffee with Team Canada coach Randy Mearns. Mearns is full-speed-ahead at St. Bonaventure. He will welcome 33 freshman, two transfers and six walk-ons to campus in September. St. Bonaventure has the full support of AD Tim Kenney, will ultimately be fully funded with 12.6 scholarships and recently was admitted as an affiliate member of the MAAC. Like Marquette and Richmond, this school will attempt to become nationally relevant. Randy has earned our respect — as a person, player and a coach. A few years out of college, he took a job with Tim Horton’s as the muffin maker, baking during the overnight shift from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Completely over-qualified for the position, the evening employment had alternative motives. It enabled him to continue to pursue lacrosse as a career, coaching and playing. That leap of faith and sacrifice now has the “Muffin Man” in Netanya, Israel, with Canada, looking to garner another World Championship.   Read the rest HERE
