Tars Earn Fifth-Straight Victory as they Defeat Moravian, 22-12

WINTER PARK, Fla.  (March 5, 2019) – The eighth-ranked Rollins women’s lacrosse team utilized a full active roster to coast to a 22-12 victory over Moravian College on Tuesday evening at Cahall-Sandspur Field. The win keeps the Tars, who checked in at No. 8 on the IWLCA DII Poll and No. 7 on the NIKE/US Lacrosse DII Top 20, perfect on the season with a record of 5-0.  The Division III Greyhounds earn their first loss of the season and drop to 2-1 overall. Kallie German led the way in scoring, earning a hat trick and two assists for a five point performance.  Kaitlin Young earned a career high four points as she tallied a hat trick and one assist, while Nikki Stumpf matched German and Young in goals with a hat trick of her own.  Both Lily Rizk and Eden Cooke earned two goals and one assist on the night, followed by Hannah Ashtonand Maddie McVicker with two goals each.  Hannah Coakley and Caroline Gastonguay notched a goal and an assist apiece, while Rachel Valocchi, Sammy Ottimo, and Paige Brock scored one goal each.  Rounding out the Tars’ scoring efforts on the night was Marina Longo with one assist.  Lindsay Van Beck won a game high eight draw controls, followed by Hannah Forbes and Ottimo won three each.  In goal, Gabby Tanner was credited with the win as she played 30 minutes, earning six saves while allowing four goals and earning one caused turnover and a ground ball. Moravian saw a team best four goals from Liz Bill, followed by three from Lindsey Strohl and Jillian PIcciuto.  Picciuto added the Greyhound’s lone assist on the evening for a four point performance, and led the team in draw controls with eight.  Meaghan McMullan and Danielle Sullivan scored one goal apiece to complete Moravian’s scoring efforts.  Both Kelley Gavin and Courtney Heist saw time in cage, with Gavin playing 37:36 minutes, and Heist taking to the field for a total of 22:24 minutes.  Gavin earned four saves while allowing 18 goals to shoulder the loss, while Heist earned four saves and allowed four goals in her time between the pipes. How it Happened: Rollins netted two quick goals within 39 seconds of each other to get the ball rolling and never looked back.  The Tars built up to a 14-4 lead at the halftime break, and added eight more goals in the second half en route to their 22-12 victory. • The Tars are now 1-0 all-time against Moravian
• The game saw a total of 11 cards, including eight yellow cards issued to Moravian, as well as two green cards and one yellow card issued to the Tars.
• Eden Cooke matched a career high for points in a game with three
• Hannah Forbes matched a career high for draw controls in a game with three
• Maddie McVicker matched a career high for points and goals in a game with two, and earned a new career best for ground balls in a game with two
• Sammy Ottimo won a Rollins career best of three draw controls
• Nikki Stumpf matched a career best three goals, including a career best two man-up goals, which places her in program record books in a tie for second for man-up goals in a game
• Kaitlin Young earned a career high four points as she matched a career best in goals with three, and added an assist. Two of her goals were man-up, marking a career high and placing her tied in second in program record books for man-up goals in a contest
