German Matches Single Game Program Records and Becomes All-Time Leader in Free-Position Goals Scored
WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 12, 2018) – Junior midfielder Kallie German had a career day in more ways than one, matching the program’s single game highs for goals and points scored in a game, while becoming the program’s all-time leader in free-position goals scored. With German’s career high eight goals, and nine points with an added assist, as well as a strong second half from the Tars, the 11th-ranked Rollins women’s lacrosse team defeated No. 25 Lock Haven by a score of 16-9 on Monday night at Cahall-Sandspur Field. The win marks the Tars’ fifth straight, and advances their record to 6-2 on the season, while the Bald Eagles walk away with their first loss of their young campaign, and drop to 3-1 overall. Free-position goals were the name of the game for the Tars on the night, with Rollins scoring on 8-of-11 free-position shots. Four of German’s eight goals were off of free-position shots, while Hannah Coakley netted two, followed by Lily Rizk and Paige Brock with one free-position goal apiece. Behind German’s game-leading eight goals, Hannah Ashtonnetted a hat trick, while Coakley scored two goals of her own. Rizk, Maggie Dougherty, and P. Brock each scored once, while Nikki Stumpf led the team in assists with two. Behind Stumpf’s two assists, German, Dougherty, and P. Brock each earned one assist on the night. Lindsay Van Beck had a solid day on defense, leading the game with four caused turnovers while adding four ground balls and one draw control. Ashton and Kaitlin Prince earned three ground balls apiece, with Ashton winning a team best three draw controls. In goal, Malorie Olin played a total of 50:24 minutes, facing 19 shots and 16 shots on goal. The senior made seven saves while allowing seven goals on the night, earning a save percentage of .500. Sophomore Sarah Neely saw a total of 9:36 between the posts, allowing two goals in her time on the field. The Bald Eagles saw three different players score two goals apiece as Katie Costanza, Braxtin Reddinger, and Karli Gilbert each netted two on the night. Ashley Gochenaur, Alex O’Herrick, and Hayley Kilian scored one goal apiece. Kilian led the team in overall points with five as she added a team best four assists. Both Lauren Marte and Kate Hooper earned a team best three ground balls, while O’Herrick won a game best five draw controls. Gilbert led the team with two caused turnovers on the night. In goal, Marte played a full 60 minutes, facing 30 shots and 22 shots on goal from the Tars. Marte made six saves while allowing 16 goals. HOW IT HAPPENED:- First Half: The first 30 minutes of play were hotly contested. Both teams traded blows in the opening minutes to see the scored tied at 3-3 with 18:17 on the clock, but two more goals by the Tars gave Rollins a 5-3 lead with 14:06 left in the half. Lock Haven fired back, netting two straight to even the score at 5-5 with 9:36 to go, but a free-position goal by German broke the Bald Eagle run, giving Rollins a slim 6-5 advantage with 8:40 on the clock. Lock Haven once again pulled even with 6:28 to go in the half thanks to a goal by Karlie Gilbert off of an assist by Hayley Kilian. However, Rollins was not about to back down and scored two straight to take an 8-6 lead with 3:55 left. Lock Haven closed out the first period with a goal by Braxtin Reddinger a little more than a minute later, ending the first half with Rollins holding onto a slim 8-7 lead at the break.
- Second Half: Lock Haven tacked on two more goals to open the second stanza, taking a 9-8 lead with 28:00 minutes to go in the game. But German found the back of the net at the 26:46 mark, evening the score at 9-9 and igniting a Rollins run that would seal the deal for the Tars. Germans goal kicked off an eight-goal run throughout the remainder of the contest that went unanswered by the Bald Eagles, closing out the game with Rollins holding onto a comfortable 16-9 lead to end the contest.

- Malorie Olin currently ranks second in program records for career saves with 409. She sits behind Elyse De Lisle `14, who amassed 463 in her career.
- Lindsay Van Beck has moved into third in program record books for caused turnovers in a career with 70. She sits 37 caused turnovers behind program leader Courtney Bianculli `13, who amassed 107 in her time with the Tars.
- The Tars are now 3-2 in the all-time series with the Bald Eagles
- The Tars entered into the week sitting 11th on the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, and sit 17th on the NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Top 20.
