MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team rolled over Edinboro 17-6 meeting the Fighting Scots in South Carolina on Saturday afternoon. The non-conference win extended the Lions win streak to a perfect 4-0 season record.
“It is always good to come home with a pair of wins on a long road trip,” said head coach Caitlin Hansen. “We were able to get everyone involved in the action today and we are happy with our 4-0 start to the season. It gives us the confidence we need early to be prepared for a busy month of March.”
Saint Leo cruised to a 9-0 lead by the 11th minute of the first half. Edinboro scored back-to-back goals in the ninth minute. Saint Leo continued to edge Edinboro in the second half. Anna Tamyo’s goal extended the Lions lead to 13 points before the Fighting Scots dished out a pair of goals for the 17-6 decision.
Stats Highlights
- Janee DeLuca racked up five goals as the Lions leading scorer. She also picked up a two ground balls.
- Lexie Walstad scored a hat-trick.
- Eight different sticks scored for Saint Leo in out shooting Edinboro 35-25.
- In 2018, during Hansen’s first year at the helm, the program reset its best season start to 6-0.
