The 2 teams traded goals, Dwyer by Kyle Verni, Lucas Carino and Matt Hamilton and PBC by Brayden Lofstead and 2 from Szander Brenner for the game all knotted up at 4-4 at the half.
Reid Kerr had more than half his career high 20 game saves in the first half to keep Dwyer within striking distance.
Duncan Evans went 7-17 at the faceoff dot for Dwyer. The second half saw Dwyers defense of Davis Cerniglia, Colby Lee, Jon Gideon, Ian Zern and Zander Henriquez clamp down on PBC, only allowing 1 goal, as well as timely doorstop and point blank saves by Kerr in the goal.
Both teams had 7 penalties per team for the game, but Dwyer was able to capitalize on them and was up 8-5 after 3 and then extended the lead to 12-5 to finish out the game. Next up for Dwyer is another key district game at Wellington on Friday/Feb 26 at 7pm, which will see both undefeated teams meet for the first time on Wellington’s new turf field.
