The contest pitted the two top girls lax programs in the county and two of the top ten girls lacrosse programs in the state. The lacrosse prowess of both teams was on display with many of the St John’s County top skilled lax girls on each team. The offensive and defensive chess match was on from the beginning with the lead continuing to change back and forth. At halftime, the tilt saw Bartram hold a 9-7 lead over the Sharks. The second half saw more of the same as Bartram would take the lead up to two goals and PV would roar back to tie the game. At the end of the game, it was all knotted at 13-13 and regulation time was not enough to decide the contest. In sudden-death overtime, PV was able to secure the ball on a fantastic draw from Anna Taraboletti to Trish Balser to control the possession for the Sharks. Later in the possession with under 2 minutes in overtime, Trish Balser drove to the net drawing three defenders. She dished the ball to the streaking attacker Katie Stoudt who put it home securing the victory for the Lady Sharks.     PV’s offense was led by the overtime winning goal of Katie Stoudt (3 goals). Sammi Lowinger (4 goals) and Tori Balser (2 goals) also added to the offense with crucial draw controls and key goals. Trish Balser (2 goals and 2 Assists) was named MVP of the game and was relentless on both sides of the ball. Anna Taraboletti was invaluable to the Lady Sharks with multiple draw controls, multiple caused turnovers and a blazing shot for a goal late in the game to keep PV in it. PV’s defense was led by Sarah James, Tori Bray, Eliza Lewin, Kenzie Conway and goalie Courtney Rausch who held the high scoring Bears of Bartram in check in the second half. The Bartram Bears top scorers though could not be denied as Ryan Frechette (5 Goals) and Izzy DiFato (5 goals) both took the ball strong to the net and finished with power. PV hosts Wolfson on Monday and Bartram hosts Lake Highland Prep Thursday night.
