SSC Athletes of the Week: March 26 – April 1

  via SSC press release   Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Lucas Claude / Florida Southern College / Sr. / Attack / Calgary, Alberta Claude hit the back of the net 14 times for Florida Southern to earn Offensive Player of the Week. Claude’s week started with a nine-goal performance in the Moccasins’ non-conference match win over tje University of Alabama-Huntsville, 16-9. Claude also recorded an assist and picked up a pair of ground balls in the win. The nine-goal total against UAH is the second highest at any division of lacrosse this year, and is the second most in school history. The Moccasin senior concluded the week with five more goals to bring his season total to 32 goals as Florida Southern defeated Lynn University, 14-12. The Calgary, Alberta product also picked up three ground balls. Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Addison Abramson / Florida Tech / Sr. / LSM / Reisterstown, Maryland Abramson wins Defensive Player of the Week after leading Florida Tech in a win Rollins College. During the Panthers’ 14-12 road victory over the Tars, the junior caused five turnovers and picked up eight ground balls. Both totals were season-highs for Abramson as he guided the Panthers to their fourth win in a row and a 2-0 record in SSC play. Abramson now has 23 caused turnovers and 44 ground balls over nine games this season. Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week Drydan Brous / Lynn University / So. / FOS / Ocean City, Maryland Brous set two single-game program records for the Fighting Knights on his way to Specialist of the Week accolades. Against Florida Southern College, Brous had a career night, taking all 30 face-offs in the game for Blue and White. He won 23 and lost seven for a 77% winning percentage, while also picking up 17 ground balls in the game. Brous’ 23 face-offs wins are the most ever in a single game from a Fighting Knight. Additionally, Brous’ 17 ground balls surpassed the old program record of 15 set during the team’s inaugural season. The Ocean City, Maryland product continues to lead the SSC in both face-off percentage (76.6%) and ground balls per game (10.9). Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Lauren Tybor / Florida Tech / So. / Midfield / Jacksonville, Florida Tybor broke two program single-game records to lead #5 Florida Tech to a 23-10 victory over Colorado State University – Pueblo on Friday. The sophomore recorded 13 points and ten assists, both program records, to go along with three goals, eight draw controls, a season-high six ground balls to guide the Panthers to their 10th win of the season and 18th consecutive victory over a non-conference opponent. Tybor now sits atop the 2018 NCAA Division II single-game leaders in assists and points. Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Bridget Sutter / University of Tampa / Fr. / GK / Evergreen, Colorado Sutter wins Defensive Player of the Week following her performances against Florida Southern College and the Colorado State University-Pueblo. In the Spartans’ one-goal loss to the No. 1 Florida Southern College, the freshman goalie faced 27 shots and recorded 14 saves in 60 minutes. In the Spartans 14-7 win over the CSU-Pueblo, the Evergreen, Colorado native logged six saves on thirteen shots. On the season, Sutter has recorded 111 saves and has earned a goal against average of 8.84.
