No. 5 Rollins Makes Easy Work of PBA in SSC Opener

  WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.  (March 30, 2019) – The fifth-ranked Rollins women’s lacrosse team ran out to a 15-0 lead in the first half and never looked back as the routed the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish by a final score of 22-2 on Saturday evening at the PBA Soccer/Lacrosse Field.  The win marks the tenth-straight for the Tars, and advances their record to 10-0 and 1-0 in Sunshine State Conference play, while the Sailfish drop to 5-4 and 0-1 in SSC action. Senior attacker Kallie German led the way with four goals and three assists, for seven points on the day, followed by Hannah Ashton with four goals and an assist of her own.  Kaitlin Youngearned a hat trick of her own, while Nikki Stumpf, Sammi Ottimo, Maddie McVicker, and Rachel Valocchi scored two goals apiece.  Taylor KienleMarina Longo, and Eden Cooke added one goal apiece.  Stumpf added two assists for four points on the day, followed by Kienle and Longo with one each.  Senior Haley Brock led the team in ground balls with three, while Lily Rizk and Maggie Dougherty led the team in draw controls with three each.  Hannah Forbes notched a team best three caused turnovers.  In goal, the Tars saw all three goalies in cage.  Gabby Tanner opened the game, playing the first 27:33 minutes where she earned two saves while denying the Sailfish of goals.  Sarah Neely played the ensuing 22:25 minutes, earning four saves while allowing just one goal.  Freshman Claire Barberclosed out the final 10:02 minutes, allowing one goal in her time in cage. Palm Beach Atlantic Saw goals out of Kiki Cinotti and Anna Laskaris, with Cinotti adding an assist for two points on the evening.  Abigal Nehring led the team in ground balls with three, while Kate Leblanc earned a team best three draw controls.  In goal, Nehring played a full 60 minutes, earning 14 saves while allowing 22 goals as she faced 42 shots and 36 shots on goal from the Tars. How it Happened: Rollins jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals within the first four minutes of play, and never looked back.  The Tars hit running clock with 15:19 on the clock in the first half, and continued to dominate the game as they held onto a 15-1 lead at halftime.  The Tars continued to ride their first half momentum into the second stanza, outscoring the Sailfish 7-1 to close out the contest with a 20 goal advantage, 22-2.   • The Tars’ best undefeated run was in 2012, where they went 15-0 before falling to Regis in regular season action, 14-13.  That year, Rollins advanced to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals, where they fell to West Chester by a score of 19-10.

Sailfish Women’s Lax Downed By No. 5 Tars


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s lacrosse fell to No. 5 Rollins College 22-2 on Saturday.

The Sailfish got on the board just before halftime as Kiki Cinotti found the back of the net. In the second half it was Anna Laskaris who was able to score off the feed from Cinotti. Cinotti has now recorded 55 points in her freshman season, leading PBA in both assists and points.

PBA managed just 12 shots in the game as the Rollins defense stifled the ‘Fish all game long. The Tars were able to take 42 shots. Abigal Nehring made 14 saves in goal for the Sailfish and led the team with three ground balls.

Rollins was led by both Kallie German and Hannah Ashton who scored four goals each. Kaitlin Young added three while German finished the game with seven points to lead all players.

The Sailfish are back in action on Wednesday as they make the trip to Daytona Beach to take on Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m.
