Tampa Women’s Lacrosse Announces Team Captains & 2020 Schedule

  via Tampa press release   TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team has announced captains for the 2019 season. Seniors Alexa ScudilloClaire SwansonCarly Vaccaro, along with junior Kristyn Staley will lead the Spartans this upcoming year. Scudillo is a 5-3 defender out of Millstone, N.J. She was a force on the defense for UT during her junior campaign, collecting 31 ground balls and causing 22 turnovers. She was awarded for her efforts on the field as she was named IWLCA All-South Region Second Team and All-SSC First Team. Swanson is a 5-7 midfielder out of Cheyenne, W.Y. She is coming off a career year in which she earned numerous accolades. During the 2018 season, she was the first women’s lacrosse player to earn IWLCA First Team All-American. During her junior campaign, she was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. She also earned first-team All-South Region and first-team All-SSC. Off the field Swanson was named to the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Vaccaro is a 5-3 attacker from Mooresville, N.C. During the 2019 season she earned first-team All-South Region and first-team All-SSC. Additionally, her efforts on the field led her to be named IWLCA third-team All-American. During the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Vaccaro was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Off the field, she earned a place on the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Staley is a 5-5 attacker from Middletown, M.D. She is coming off a sophomore campaign where she was an IWLCA All-South second-team selection and also earned first-team All-SSC. Her efforts in the classroom earned her a spot on the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. UT will have 16 games this year, nine of which will be at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. Tampa will open the season on February 7th by welcoming in the University of Alabama-Huntsville. March 23rd will mark the beginning of Sunshine State Conference play, when Tampa is on the road against Lynn University in Boca Raton.
