via Weber press release   BOX SCORE WALESKA, Ga. (March 13, 2021) – The Webber International University men’s lacrosse team fell for the second time on the road and for the third time against a top-five nationally-ranked team during its inaugural season as this time, the Warriors lost 22-3 at No. 1 Reinhardt University on Saturday evening. Coming off a 12-9 win over nationally-recognized St. Andrews University earlier in the week, the Warriors fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference while on the other side, Reinhardt improved to 6-0 and 1-0. The Warriors did hold the Eagles to without a goal for over four minutes to start the game before Reinhardt ultimately took a 6-0 lead before a goal by Chase Jackson with two and half minutes left in the first quarter. Reinhardt scored again only six seconds after Jackson’s goal, and proceeded to score 15 times in a row until a goal by Bryson Whitehead a little over three minutes into the fourth quarter. Whitehead would score again with only 1:30 left to play to finish off the scoring. Webber’s Head Coach Chris Burdick said after the game, “Our guys fought tonight for 60 minutes against a good team that is very skilled. There is a lot we can learn from tonight as we mature as a program.” Webber was 7-for-7 on its clear attempts while Reinhardt was 9-for-12. The Warriors also won three of the seven face-offs in the first quarter. Dave Becker won each of those three face-offs. Alexander Kew recorded two groundballs. Next up will be Webber’s second straight and fourth game overall against a top-10 nationally-ranked opponent as this time, the Warriors take on No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, in Athens, Tennessee.
