LOUISVILLE, K.Y. – Geraint Shaw of the Flagler College men’s lacrosse team joins some of the top talent in NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse as the freshman attacker has earned himself a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II Team of the Week, the organization announced earlier today.

This is the first weekly honor of any kind the first-year team has earned.

“G has a very good work ethic. It’s paying off on the field and in the classroom,” head coach Brian Duncan said.

The Actworth, Georgia native turned in a fantastic game in his first collegiate game in his home state. In the team’s first road victory in the inaugural season, a 17-7 victory in Peach Belt Conference play against Shorter University, Shaw found the back of the net a season-high five times, one man-up, and assisted on two of his teammate’s goals. The hat trick is his second in three games, with his first coming in the team’s non-conference finale against No. 18 Colorado Mesa University.

On the season, the attacker is sitting second on the team in points with 28. He is pacing the young team in goals, netting 20 thus far and handing out eight assists. Defensively, he has caused his opponents to commit six turnovers and scooped up 18 ground balls.

In PBC play, Shaw has been a driving force behind the teams two wins, scoring seven goals and recording four assists.

Shaw and company continue their preparations for a trip to Greenwood, South Carolina for a PBC showdown with Lander University at Van Taylor Stadium this coming Saturday, April 16th at 1 p.m.
