FLN Boys 1A Top 15 Poll for the Week Ending 3/27/27!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

It’s been a long time since the 1A Poll did not feature Saint Andrew’s at the top. A matter of fact . . . they ran the table last year in the first year of the classes in 2021 and until this week it was the same. But after St. Thomas knocked off the Scots and St. Edward’s toppled Jupiter yesterday, we finally have a new #1! But don’t get too comfortable Pirate fans, there’s a showdown coming Saturday when the Scots come to town!

How cool.

Bolles pulled off their own huge moment of showing their season was not due to an easier schedule as they traveled to Orlando and took down 2A #1 Winter Park on Monday and followed it up with a dominating win over Maclay on Saturday.

Heck, I could make the case that the hottest team in 1A is Benjamin, as they have really put it together in the second half of the season, winning at St. Thomas and beating Pine Crest at home. Road wins at LHP and SJP II in that run too. And they host Oxbridge and Jupiter to end the season.

What about Oxbridge? 2-goal loss to SA and a 1-goal loss to Pine Crest is it in-state for them. They finish with Western, Benjamin and Wellington . . . that should get them ready for District and the Region.

Pine Crest is again having a great season, but their schedule is less filled in to end the season. Maybe we get to see what hard vs not-so-hard means in a season of the at-large bid when it comes to having legs.

Jesuit with an easy win this week but now the Riverview-Sarasota game Friday doesn’t look like it did a week ago. Oak Hall is still on hold until the Ponte Vedra and Bolles games the last week.

Montverde couldn’t match Bolles’ Winter Park performance, losing by three to the Retrievers. They get another shot at a quality win with the trip to LHP tomorrow.

Saint John Paul moves up a few slots with the solid win over Belen after falling to Benjamin, and they are off this week.

Cardinal Mooney’s 1-goal loss at Plant, combined with their 1-goal win over Community School, gets them up a slot. They travel to Canterbury on Tuesday.

Lake Highland played Ponte Vedra tough for a half, but faded in the second half, then came back strong with two wins to get back to .500. Montverde will be a great test.

Belen falls a few slots with their first loss, and they will be road warriors, going over Alligator Alley to play Gulf Coast on Friday and Community School on Saturday.

American Heritage-Plantation continues to sit at #14 after an idle week, and travels to Gulliver on Friday to face a team that is starting to get it together.

At the #15 slot I choose to highlight three teams that are getting on a roll, with Canterbury, Episcopal of Jacksonville and Holy Trinity Episcopal. All three have done enough to make a bracket, with Holy Trinity being the only one that could still face a bubble situation due to how tough the Region is turning out to be.

Bishop Moore, Boone and St. Stephen’s Episcopal are all moving up to consideration and are capable of making a late run at a bracket slot. Jensen Beach gets a shot at Holy Trinity tomorrow and Westminster Christian might well vie with Gulliver for the only 1A slot for District 16.
