A blast from the past might be shaping up, although there is a long way to go. Saint Andrew’s looked like a machine yesterday versus Saint John Paul, and Lake Highland is back on track . . .

Region 2 is looking like a LOT of fun this year . . . LHP, St. Edward’s, Benjamin, Montverde and Holy Trinity . . . LHP handled Montverde this week . . . I’m sure there will be a lot of game film study at Montverde.

And AD’s in the Citrus League . . . you might want to ask the FHSAA why they took away District game requirements. Let the school’s schedule at their competitive level. Covid is OVER.

Bolles slips a few notches since their schedule is looking a little weaker now than at the start of the season. It’s hard to gauge so many out-of-state teams and how they fluctuate year to year. St. Edward’s had an excellent week as they continue to play tough games, and that doesn’t change with road trips to Benjamin and Saint Andrew’s this week. And don’t forget that Benjamin and SA hook up this week too!

Pine Crest is fighting through the absence of Jordan Faison but showed a lot versus St. Edward’s after a bad SA game. Jesuit and Plant hook up Tuesday in their annual battle royal and Jesuit plays a tough second half, including a St. Pat’s game with Belen Jesuit . . . there’s probably a chuckle in that if I can stay out of trouble. Belen fell to NSU University, and I need to see how NSU follows that up; there isn’t a game left they can’t win.

Cardinal Mooney took a tough loss at Ponte Vedra and rebounded with a nice win over Bartram Trail and is fighting through a few injuries. Oak Hall suffered a bit of a surprise at Bartram and really can’t afford another loss given how deep this poll can go.

And if you want an example of that, note that Oxbridge is 4-3 and has Pine Crest, SA and Jupiter as their next three games. Community School handled AH-Plantation and should breeze through this week.

But, until SA is challenged, they’re the best team in the state.
