FLN Boys 2A Top 15 for the Week Ending 4/3/22!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

Before we get to the Poll, we at FLN send our condolences to the Windermere players, staff and community for the loss of Assistant Coach Colton Lawless, who passed away last week. Details are not available, and we’ll put up a link to the notice tomorrow.

Chalk pretty much held all week in 2A, as favorites pretty much ran the table. There were a few surprises as far as margin of victory is concerned. The only real change was at #15, where both Riverview-Sarasota and Boone had tough weeks with their stronger games, so we’re flipping them out and inserting Columbus and Martin County into the 15th slot.

Martin County’s schedule is not good, but they do have road wins at Holy Trinity and King’s. They face Jensen Beach on the road on Thursday. Columbus split with ranked 1A teams and travel to Western on Monday.

The games that were played between ranked teams included a great one-goal game between Lake Mary and Creekside, with the Rams winning on the road. Jupiter and St. Thomas were 5-5 at the half but St. Thomas pulled away in the second half.

Since both teams lost to higher-ranked teams we’ll leave them together at #6. Winter Park and Plant had similar weeks, with big wins over ranked teams, so there’s nothing that changed their sharing #3 either.

The big surprise was Plant’s handling of Newsome by a large margin, as they are certainly used to playing each other to closer results. Western lost to 1A power Oxbridge after leading early.

Nease put up a big win over Maclay and should win out this week. Steinbrenner is on a winning streak and put up an impressive win over Berkeley Prep, and also should win out this week. Their biggest issue heading into the playoffs is a schedule that didn’t include a trip out of the area, which would really help them prepare for the brackets.
