The biggest game of the year so far for the Girls was the top-ranked AH-Delray 13-6 take down of second-ranked Lake Highland this week, cementing the Stallions hold on the top spot. No rest for them though as Pine Crest is up next on Monday!
The Panthers took down #1 in 2A, St. Thomas Aquinas, on Thursday to show they are in the talk. A win tomorrow would be something; taking down TWO #1’s in 5 days?
Easily the biggest mover in ANY poll this week is the Benjamin Buccaneers, as they took down then #3 Episcopal School on Saturday. Last year they finished 11-7 and now look to be back on the radar for what is turning out to be a pretty darn good Region 4 in 1A. My mistake for missing out on their potential!
Episcopal drops a notch and we move Bishop Moore up over St. Stephen’s due to the strength of schedule they faced, as SSE’s is backloaded. Bishop Moore has a date with LHP this week.
Out-of-Door is 5-0 and in a similar situation to the Falcons. Berkeley Prep dropped two games to fall out of the Top 10. South Fork makes their first appearance after taking a one-goal win versus previous #8 Jensen Beach. St. Edward’s takes over #10 as both Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Catholic suffered losses. Both of them need to show their can hang with the better squads remaining on their schedules.
What is encouraging is that we are seeing far more schools being considered as the season is getting towards the first third being behind us. It should be quite a good sign as positions change, but right now AH-Delray looks like the best Girls’ team in the state in either 1A or 2A.
