Gators-Dolphins Set for Final Non-Conference Bout of Season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Florida lacrosse team (12-3, 4-1 AAC) hits the road on Wednesday for an in-state rivalry game against the Jacksonville Dolphins (9-6, 5-1 ASUN).

This is Florida’s final non-conference game of the regular season and it is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Rock Stadium. Fans not in attendance can catch the game on ESPN+.

No. 8 Florida at RV Jacksonville

This is the 14th meeting between the Gators and the Dolphins, with Florida leading the series 12-1. Florida is 5-1 against JU in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Gators have held Jacksonville to an average of 7.69 goals per game, including a series-low three goals in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on May 16, 2021. Meanwhile, the Gators are averaging 16.31 goals per game, with the series-high 21 goals coming twice: once in the 2014 matchup on Feb. 12 in Gainesville, then again in the 2017 game on Feb. 27 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Florida is coming off a 22-6 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, while Jacksonville topped Queens 27-6 in its last contest.

Scouting the Dolphins

  • Jacksonville comes into Wednesday’s game with a 9-6 record overall and a 5-1 record in league play • The Dolphins are receiving votes in the latest IWLCA/ILWomen Top-25 poll
  • Sarah Elms leads the way offensively with 64 points (55g, 9a), followed by Grace Hobson’s 48 points (17g, 31a). Lauren Craft (27g, 7a), Brianna Samuels (25g, 3a), Molly Brock (17g, 4a), Lauren Ellis (14g, 4a) and Hudson Gentile (17g) have all recorded over 10 points throughout the season thus far
  • Lauren Ellis has tallied a team-high 81 draw controls on the year, while Molly Brock has posted 64 in 15 games. Kaila Stasulli (26) and Abby Moran (18) have combined for 44 draw control victories
  • Defensively, Jacksonville has totaled 127 caused turnovers, led by 17 from Maddie Strugell.
