Houston nets five as Lynn loses in OT

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior Connor Houston, graduate Brian Hoskins and graduate Joseph Michalski totaled 15 points as the Lynn men’s lacrosse team suffered a 16-15 overtime defeat to North Greenville. The Fighting Knights settle at 2-4 overall this spring.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn trailed 14-10 with just 6:36 left in regulation before a furious comeback sent the contest in OT
– Houston started the rally with a man-up goal at 5:20 in the fourth
– Houston found Michalski for a goal with 3:42 showing as Lynn trailed 14-12
– Graduate Thomas Murray scored at 2:19 off a pass from Hoskins and Houston evened the score at 14 with a goal with just 1:44 left
– The Crusaders answered with 42 seconds left for a 15-14 lead
– Lynn won the ensuing faceoff and Hoskins found graduate Scott Friant for the equalizing goal with 22 seconds left
– NGU scored on its only shot in extra time to capture the win with just five seconds remaining
– Lynn outshot North Greenville, 52-41, including a 33-24 edge in shots on goal
– The Fighting Knights won 17 faceoffs and finished 18-of-19 on clears
– The Crusaders stopped 18 shots to help overcome a 17-for-30 effort on clear attempts
– Michalski and graduate Jalen Stanton scored the game’s first two goals for a 2-0 lead
– The Fighting Knights tied the game on four occasions, but never recaptured the lead
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Houston scored five goals with one assist, four ground balls and one caused turnover
– Hoskins scored once with four assists
– Michalski scored three times with one assist
– Junior Camren Santos scooped up eight ground balls and won 14-of-23 faceoffs
– Junior Matthew Canedo caused five turnovers with four ground balls
