IL Feature Article: Is Florida a Force to be Reckoned With in 2023?

Mandee O’Leary starts her 14th year at the helm this spring, as Florida’s lone head coach since its inception in 2010. Since the early days of the program, the Gators have been on everyone’s radar — earning national rankings and advancing to the Championship Weekend in 2012 and making 11 total NCAA tournament appearances.  

Of late, the Gators have been halted at the Elite Eight, falling in the quarterfinals for three of the past five seasons. Last year’s group, however, showed a sign of what’s to come. That was a young but talented squad —and though they wanted more time together— a quarterfinal run was valuable experience that could pay dividends in 2023. 

The Gators return all of their top five scorers, most notably, the impressive tandem of Danielle Pavinelli and Emma LoPinto—a duo whose styles complement each other. Both star attackers came close to 100-point seasons last year.
