Paul Rabil Q&A on the PLL’s Four-Year Broadcast Rights Deal with ESPN

About six hours after the Premier Lacrosse League announced its new four-year deal with ESPN on Wednesday, co-founder Paul Rabil went to Frederick Douglass Academy to spend time and do some coaching with Harlem Lacrosse.

He took my call as he drove away and hadn’t been able to monitor the social media reaction to the news. He laughed as he said that continuing to delay diving back into the reaction was probably for the best because, even though it can be intoxicating, it’s ultimately not the best way to spend his time.

I asked about the deal in a series of questions that can be broken down into three sections: Why the PLL moved on from the incumbent NBC, how the negotiation process unfolded and what fans should expect from the PLL on ESPN.
