HOW IT HAPPENED

Jackson Intrieri continues to pace the Dolphins offense in conference play and contributed a team best five points on the afternoon. He was the only JU player to record a hat trick and since the start of conference play is tied for the most points on the team with 24 points. The sophomore’s hat-trick is the seventh one of his young career.

“As a team, after that Utah loss we kind of have a different purpose with why we show up everyday,” said Jackson Intrieri on his teams preparation up to this point and what went right today. “We’ve started to buy in a little bit more, share a little bit more. Ball speed has gotten a lot better and the defense has definitely tightened up a lot too. Overall we’re just more complete as a team.”

“Me personally, I’m just trying to stay consistent every day and put in the work, go hard every day,” further added Intrieri on his play. “Coach Galloway and I always talk about how when I turn up the heat with my effort, everybody else will follow in place.”

The Dolphins offensively had five players record multi-goal games and an additional five players found net once.

Defensively, the Dolphins were led by grad-students Jack Heed and Luke Millican. Heed was near impossible to get around all afternoon and stick-checked his way into three caused turnovers. Millican was a brick wall in the cage and stopped 12 Titans shots to halt any potential momentum that may go Detroit Mercy’s way. His 12 saves is the eighth time this year he’s made at least 10 saves in goal. Not to be forgotten was Jason Yoqunito’s game. Yoquinto faced 10 shots in just over 11 minutes and made seven saves for an impressive .700 save percentage. The duo combined for a .731 save percentage.

“We have a lot of work to do before another important conference game on Saturday,” said Dolphins head coach John Galloway after the game. “We only have three games left, and there is a lot left on the bone for this, specifically our effort and body language when times are tough. I am thankful for our staff; Troy Hettinger and Jack Heed for leading this team to a win today. Luke Millican and Jason Yoqunito were difference makers in what could have been a very different game.”
