Garrity Lands on USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American List

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse player Tucker Garrity has been named a preseason All-America honorable mention selection by USA Lacrosse. Garrity, a redshirt senior from Newtown, Conn., is the only player in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) to earn the honor.

In the 2023 season, Garrity recorded 41 ground balls, ending the year with 10 consecutive multi-ground ball games, including a season-high five ground balls against Air Force on Apr. 22. Garrity’s 26 caused turnovers ranked second in the conference, earning ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors on Apr. 18.

Garrity has appeared in every game for the Dolphins since 2022, playing in 33 consecutive games and scoring six goals on the offensive side in each of those two seasons. “We couldn’t be more proud of Tucker’s recognition for preseason All-American,” said men’s lacrosse head coach John Galloway. “His position is difficult to measure, yet he still makes you feel him emotionally every time he takes the field. He has become a special player for us, and his growth off the field has been even more impressive. I know he is eager to prove a lot of people right this spring!”

A selection to the postseason All-America list would put Garrity amongst a trio of former JU Dolphin USA Lacrosse All-Americans, Colin Hinton, Troy Hettinger and Max Waldbaum. Each of the three earned selections in 2022 as Garrity would become the fourth selection in three seasons.

The Dolphins begin the 2024 campaign in a neutral site matchup against Binghamton on Saturday, Feb. 10, in Sparks Glencoe, Md.

Jacksonville Men’s Lacrosse Releases 2024 Schedule

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville men’s lacrosse head coach John Galloway has released his team’s schedule ahead of the 2024 season. The schedule includes seven games played at home, six on the road, with two neutral site events.

JU’s 2024 season begins with an early neutral site trip against Binghamton (Feb. 10). Jacksonville then follows up with two road games against Marist (Feb. 17), and last year’s national runner’s up in the men’s lacrosse championship, the Duke Blue Devils (Feb. 24).

The Dolphins will then host the Michigan Wolverines (Feb. 27) for their home opener. It’s the fourth time the two sides have faced off, and JU currently leads the all-time series 2-1. The Dolphins then play again just three days later against St. John’s at the Rock Lacrosse Center.

Jacksonville then takes a quick trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Crown Lacrosse Classic against High Point, (Mar. 9). This contest is the Dolphins’ second neutral site event in the regular season and concludes the non-conference slate.

For the second consecutive season, the Dolphins will open Atlantic Sun play against Robert Morris (Mar. 16). This year, the Colonials travel south to Rock Beach. Jacksonville then takes a quick trip to Mercer (Mar. 23) before returning home for two games in three days against Cleveland State (Mar. 27) and the reigning conference champion, Utah (Mar. 30).

In April, the Dolphins hit the road for matches at Queens (Apr. 6) and Detroit Mercy (Apr. 10). JU then returns home for what will be their third game in seven days as they host Lindenwood (Apr. 13).

The Dolphins will conclude their season in similar fashion to last year against Air Force and Bellarmine. JU will travel out west for their matchup with Air Force (Apr. 20) before finishing the regular season at home against Bellarmine (Apr. 27).

Jacksonville finished the 2023 season with its second-highest number of wins in program history and a record of 12-4.
