Rollins Picked to Win the 2024 SSC Men’s Lacrosse Title

Head coaches select the Tars to repeat in 2024

MELBOURNE, Fla. –  Sunshine State Conference men’s lacrosse coaches select Rollins as the preseason favorite for 2024. With 47 points and five first-place votes in the poll, a second consecutive regular-season championship is anticipated for the Tars.

Coaches vote Tampa as the top contender to the Tars in 2024, with 45 points and the final three first-place votes in the ranking. Florida Southern follows in third place with 35 points, while Florida Tech and Saint Leo close out the top five with 30 and 27 points, respectively. Lynn (20 points), Embry-Riddle (13 points), and Palm Beach Atlantic (7 points) hold positions sixth through eighth in the preseason poll.

Rollins won its first conference regular-season title in 2023 with a 7-0 record in SSC play and was followed in the league table by Tampa (6-1) and Florida Southern (5-2). The Tars went on to win the program’s first SSC postseason title by defeating Florida Southern in the finale. FSC earned a spot in the title match after ending Tampa’s undefeated record in the league tournament that spanned seven seasons.

Following the conference tournament, the Tars earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Division II national tournament, while the Spartans also earned a tournament bid. The eventual national champion, Lenoir-Rhyne, knocked both Rollins and Tampa of the national tournament. In 2022, Tampa won the first men’s lacrosse national title for the Sunshine State Conference. Before Tampa’s run, Saint Leo’s 2018 squad was the national runner-up.

The 2024 season begins on Saturday, February 3rd, with Florida Southern visiting Wingate and Florida Tech hosting Rollins in non-conference play. Conference play starts on Saturday, March 16th, with Palm Beach Atlantic hosting Florida Tech.
