JU WLAX Draws Southern Cal in Opening Round of NCAAs

via press release – photo via JU web site   JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University’s women’s lacrosse team will be headed to Gainesville, Fla., to face Southern California in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Game time is scheduled for Friday, May 12, and the winner will square off against the site host Florida. To view the full field, click here. The Dolphins earned their fourth ASUN Conference title earlier in the day with an 11-10 victory over the top-seeded Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Friday’s first round matchup will mark the first meeting between USC and Jacksonville. “USC is a very athletic team, and an outstanding opponent,” said head coach Mindy McCord. “Our girls will be off tomorrow, and we’ll be back at it prepping on Tuesday.” Eight sites will host first- and second-round competition Friday, May 12 and Sunday, May 14, and four quarterfinal games will be played Saturday, May 20 or Sunday, May 21. These preliminary-round games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals and final hosted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, May 26 and 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The semifinal games will be shown live on ESPN3 at 5 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 26. The championship game will air live on ESPNU on Sunday, May 28 at 11 a.m.
